I Got Nothin'

Remember this? Harbaugh was getting it framed and everything? Now picking off Kirk Cousins doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment. If Sunday was a must win then what is tomorrow? We are more banged up than we were against Tampa and look how that turned out. Sunday's game absolutely took all the hope out of me. All the same issues about not being able to run and really do anything in the second half were there but were way worse. Everything was worse. As soon as we got the second turnover and decided to punt everything went stagnant. But these problems have been there all year. When we can't run (and we haven't been able to after Dobbins went down), it's just back to "Justin save us." Kurt Warner did a whole breakdown on Twitter about how we can't block and none of our offensive concepts help guys who can't get open on their own.

No one was psyched about Greg Roman, except Harbuagh. He promised a run game and it hasn't happened. The IOL is worse than anyone could imagine. There are moments where three guys are trying to block someone one unsuccessfully against the Bucs who had tons of defensive injuries. We didn't score in the second half and never forced a punt all day.

It was as brutal a game as I can remember in such a critical spot. As Harbaugh says, guys need to play their best when their best is needed.

The defense was abysmal. Even Tarheeb Still got burned by Mike Evans when he tried the ole tackle on the sideline. Denzel Perryman should be back but Cam Hart is out.

Tomorrow is just a simple "who wants it" game. The Broncos have played well since starting 0-2 and we've been inconsistent since starting 2-0. Now they are ahead of us and are playing like a playoff team. Like the Chargers they haven't really beaten a good team. A loss makes it seem super unlikely the Bolts get 10 wins. I know who they play. I still plan to go to Foxboro. But I just think if they can't rebound tomorrow, they come up short for the year. Was it a rebuild anyway? I don't know, but I always expected a playoff berth with Harbaugh. We went 5-12 and got a schedule that reflected it. If we can't beat the only remaining "legit" team then the season's a failure. That's it.

Yes, everything is "in front of them." I know they "control their destiny." But this is their last shot to do something with this year. I won't get my hopes up, quite to the contrary. But this is the game of the year. If they had won over the last two weeks they could think about managing injuries and who they could face in postseason. But now everyone has to go who is physical able or it's another season ender in Vegas. That's my take. Either way it's the last home game of the year. I'll be watching, but not quite so sure of what I'll be seeing. I'd love to be surprised in a good way.

JIC,
