Ambition? Yeah. If all I've heard is true, there's nothin' much I can do

It's my first post since the playoff game, so I'll skip the usual JIC collage for something a little spicier, as the kids say. If you don't know who this is, I'm not sure why you're reading this. It's not the JUSTICE IS COMING house band, but adjacent.

I know you know who that is. The fact that it's from 1994 and he's on a landline is kinda crazy. I just turned 55 on Sunday which is also crazy--to me. There is actually a throughline between both these shots. I wrote about it in DRUNK ON SUNDAY that I left Super Bowl XXIX in an awful state, I heard "Blue Sky" coming through a tent outside the stadium. Sure enough, it was being played live by the band that wrote it.
Right now, I am angrier over the inactivity during free agency than I am about the playoff loss to the Patriots. Looking back, the biggest problem was that we couldn't score a single fucking touchdown. Of course, we only allowed one, which of course went right over Derwin's fingertips into the hands of Hunter Henry.
After a deflected interception set us up at the ten, we completely botched the opportunity. The third down incompletion seemed to encompass everything that went wrong that day. That was the biggest indictment of Greg Roman and the reason we hired Mike McDaniel as OC. I still question why Omarion Hampton wasn't at least used on that drive. They tried him out later, but an outside run that resulted in TD would have changed everything. He claimed after the game that he wanted to go back in, but I still wonder why suit up at all if he wasn't going to carry the ball in that scenario.
The Chargers (and Harbaugh) thought outside the box and not only fired Jim's RV buddy but brought in the best coordinator available. That's the only explanation for the lack of signings at guard right now. Are they building an offense that suits McDaniel's scheme? I know Slater and Alt will be back but we can't count on guys who have been hurt before to not get hurt again or to play at the level they were when they got injured. The other theme of the New England game was Justin Herbert getting the shit kicked out of him. Right now, Zion is gone. I don't mind that since he wasn't worth what Cleveland paid. However, keeping Pipkins and letting Sayler walk? I know McDaniel will having Herbert moving and will scheme up more guys so that we don't see a game with zero touchdowns again.
I think the Herbert/Tua debate ended ages ago, but he got hit a ton with McDaniel at the helm. It's early still but Derwin and Tuli can't constitute all the cap money we have. Oweh got more money from Washington than he'd have gotten from us so I assume they will draft a pass rusher at #22. I'm willing to give Hortiz the benefit of the doubt, but my poor soon is crashing out daily with our lack of activity. I know we offered more to Indy's WR and Seattle's RB/WR than they took to stay with their teams. I don't think people don't want to play for us or that the taxes are keeping people away.

But I can't have Aaron getting hurt every day that we don't do anything. I promise to check back in soon. It goes without saying that this installment of JIC is dedicated to Bobby Weir. This shot is from my second of 138 shows. You can stream the show here.
Still Bolting Up,
RLW
