Begin The Season of The Bolting Up.

Sorry to get to you so late. Kickoff is three hours, and I pride myself on posting a little earlier. It's been hectic week and this weekend is Rosh Hashanah. For those who celebrate, Happy New Year. I truly don't know what to expect from the Bolts this season. I know what I want. I get tired of telling people that my only fantasy team are the 52 Chargers who win the Super Bowl. It seems like there are four tiers of success in the NFL. You can make the playoffs, get over the hump for that first win, make a deep run, or win it all. I know that with our tough schedule, the playoffs (as always) are not a given. However, not making it is an outright failure. I don't know how long we have McDaniel, so I think we'd better maximize the opportunity.

This was ten years ago. Now that same kid is 15 and plays JV football. He's 6 feet one inch and upstairs screaming about his fantasy team. I only subscribe to Sunday Ticket for one reason but I'm happy he's watching the game with me at 4:25. His plans fell through though he assures me he'll be here for the big matchups this season.

Now look at him. Yes, I am wearing a Chargers shirt. I can't blame him for wearing the Knicks shirt. I never thought I'd see them win in my lifetime. They won two of my three years alive, but I don't claim those. I mean if the Knicks can be NBA Champions, then I guess anything is possible. There is no question that today is a must win. These first two are at home before they go to Buffalo. Incidentally, tickets for that game in their new stadium are twice as much as the ones for the game we are going to in Sofi. My son is right that Chargers Twitter is super bitchy. There are those just waiting for that first injury, fumble, or missed kick. I admit that I still have questions about Dicker. I know we used to not be able to make kicks under 50, but I still need to see more consistency in the clutch and less of those brain farts he has.

I still remember her pooping in her Charger cheerleader outfit on 1/14/07. It should have told me something bad was coming. Anyway, it's crazy how they grow up. Her sorority had Jersey vs Jersey Shore as a theme for their party so she decided to Bolt up. We'll see how Slaughter and the IOL holds up. I feel like they knew what they were doing when they drafted him out of Florida. I'd love to see Slater and Alt shake the injury bug. For a while Keenan couldn't stay healthy and then was out there for long stretches taking hits. I always say that I don't have much to write until the team plays so I can react to what they are doing or not doing. I feel good about today. The team knows that no one believes in them. The narrative that Herbo can't win in January is established even if I think it's decidedly bullshit. People assume that Jesse Minter can't be replaced and everyone loves Denver.

Fuck that. I think the place is loud and fans are hungry. The team is hungry. Ownership is hungry, which is why they brought Harbaugh in. He's hungry, which is why he fired the only OC he ever knew to get McDaniel. He's been willing think out side the box and it seems like Herbo has fully bought in. There will be bumps along the way, but I have faith. I know, crazy?

Then again, it's Opening Day.
