Return To Planet Houston

Well, not exactly. We aren't going back to Houston, but we are in many ways right back where we were in January.

But in many ways we are in a different spot, possibly a better spot. We are already in the playoffs. NO ONE thought we would have 11 wins total even with a fully healthy team. The tougher schedule overall, the first three division games to open, and the travel seemed to be the factors. But predictions don't matter now.

I think the fans will be louder than ever today. I have always noted that the home field is somewhat the result of the diehards fearing that we won't deliver in the big moments. Yes, it's LA, but the two trips I've taken to Sofi have confirmed that there are many loyal members of the Legion of the Lightning Bolt out there.

Last week, FAITHFUL READER, the offense showed up. I have never been happier to be proven wrong than by Quentin Johnston. I saw no way for him to rebound from last season. The Houston loss left an especially indelible impression of him not being able to separate from defenders.

Not only has he been huge in clutch situations, but he's really been our most dependable X receiver. I never saw that coming. There have been times where Johnston has been the only guy getting open deep. For him to have the game he had last week in his home state is great. That one-handed catch was awesome.

Derwin has been amazing. He really is an all-time Chargers on defender. Sure, there have been penalties (some unwarranted) and what we all say is a drop off from time to time. I think we need to give Poo Bear his flowers, as the kids say.

The season isn't over if we lose. That's why we are in a better place than the last time we faced them. But it's a hell of a lot more interesting if we win.

So with that, let's continue to fuck shit up.
