Burt Reynolds in Gator, because why the fuck not.
That was just about the worst possible beginning to a season that I could imagine. The defense was literally at a Tom "Boss Hogg" level. I have never seen that much open space in the middle of the field and that much time for any quarterback to throw to that giant area in my life.
I know Bosa pulled a hamstring, but that was a pathetic showing. We spent all offseason being told that "wins meant more to him" and that he regretted his Jacksonville meltdown and then he got thrown around like a fucking rag doll all day.
Yeah, I went there and not just because Steven Tyler is nursing his vocal cords. The whole team showed no urgency. I wasn't going to read Daniel Popper's analysis of the defensive meltdown for fear of throwing up in my mouth. However, I am glad I did since he pointed out several times that the only reason the Chargers made plays is because Tua under threw the ball or something like that. In real time, I thought Derwin, Davis, or Jackson was making important plays. I don't want to hear about how Renaldo Hill gave Miami valuable "intel" on our defense. The entire fucking world knows not to put Mack, Murray or some other slow guy on Hill. They single covered him all day. While Staley seems to be less stubborn on offense, the defense is a shit show. We pushed Tranquill out the door so he could ride the bench in KC and signed a guy from the Vikings who we knew was injury prone.
He did a Hot Ones episode and talked about his car collection and lasted one game before getting hurt.
Yeah, I know this was from a different Hot Ones episode. I just needed something to brighten my day. Now Kenneth FUCKING Murray, who our DC (even though Staley calls the plays for his precious "scheme") said played great on Sunday, is wearing the "dot."
I love Mack and all, but the best comment I saw on Sunday was that we have two corpses as edge rushers. Actually, just one since I am sure Bosa won't play tomorrow. If he did, I doubt he could do less than he did last week.
As for Ekeler, I don't have such an issue with his "we haven't had the best coaching comment," since it was in the middle of a bunch of other stuff he said. I also don't think he threw Herbert under the bus in the offseason like many Boltheads do. Someone did comment on a social media post "so we should fire Staley now?" and he gave it a like. It doesn't really matter since he's not playing tomorrow either.
Mike Williams had a head injury, I believe, during the Miami game. I guess he is good to go, but that is always iffy. Moore's offense didn't have much vertical throws last week but 34 points should have been enough.
The sad thing is that a missed extra point by them should have been the opening for us to win the game. The final drive was like the one Rivers "led" against the Traitors in 2019. At least a 1PM kickoff here on Long Island means that they can't completely ruin my night since I'll have the late window to recover.
I've been working all week on finishing the manuscript for my second book, so I'm beat. I'm still watching, FAITHFUL READER. I can't not do so. It's both Rosh Hashanah and Batman Day for those who celebrate. Anwyay, I'm going to have a margarita in honor of the late Jimmy Buffett.
This is one of my favorite bootlegs of his. I love how the San Francisco Examiner described his music as "horny rock."
Anyway, the name of the blog is still Justice Is Coming. I'm not sure if or when, however,
See you out there tomorrow.
